So the question for today is “Discuss one observation “area” that you would like to improve upon for your teacher evaluation.” \u00a0This is a tough one for me because as a teacher at an independent school formal evaluations are done in the second and sixth years so I don’t have formal evaluation “areas” per se. \u00a0Last year, I had a colleague sit in on my classes and give me feedback over a month’s period \u00a0and it was extremely helpful to have his perspective. \u00a0I also have many teachers come from other school at different points in the year in order to learn about problem-based learning, so I am used to having people in my classroom, but I haven’t really asked for feedback in one particular area in very long time.<\/p>\n
However, I do believe that something I wonder about when I speak to teachers learning about PBL is how well I really facilitate PBL discussions. \u00a0I know what I’m supposed to do but the time constraints and the issues of adolescent life often keep me from being the best I can be. \u00a0 I know I can be hard on myself, but if I had an expert in questioning, wait time, reactions to statements, inquiry and scaffolding who could come in and watch me teach for a week or so, that would probably be the best thing for me right now. \u00a0It would be so helpful. \u00a0So if anyone is willing…please get in touch!<\/p>\n\n
